Rajasthan Tour with Taj Mahal: 13 Nights, 14 Days on the Road
Haveli towns, desert forts, lakes and palaces across Rajasthan, finishing with a morning at the Taj Mahal.
This is a 13-night, 14-day Rajasthan road trip out of Delhi covering Mandawa, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Pushkar and Jaipur, with a morning visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra before heading back to Delhi. Along the way you get Mandawa's painted havelis, Junagarh Fort, Jaisalmer Fort and a camel ride at the Sam Sand Dunes, the lakeside palaces of Udaipur, and Amber Fort in Jaipur. Raahi Cabz runs it as a private-cab trip, and the route can be adjusted. See the full day-by-day itinerary below.
Two weeks isn't a lot of time for a state the size of Rajasthan, but it's enough to see a good part of it: haveli towns, desert forts, lakes, palaces, and the Taj Mahal on the way home. With full days in Jaisalmer, Udaipur and Jaipur between the long drives, this itinerary leaves room to look around instead of just photographing the entrance and moving on.
You start in Delhi, work your way west and south through Mandawa, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Pushkar and Jaipur, and finish in Agra before the drive back to Delhi.
We run this one as a private cab journey, so you're not tied to anyone else's pace. Stop for chai on the highway, linger an extra hour at a fort, skip something that doesn't interest you. It's your car for two weeks.
Why This Route Works
Rajasthan feels like several different places stitched together. Mandawa is a small town of painted havelis. Jaisalmer sits in the desert and its fort is still lived in. Udaipur is built around its lakes. Jaipur is the Pink City, busy with bazaars and palaces.
Covering all of that in two weeks means long drives, and most of the transfer days here are long ones. The one distance the itinerary specifies is Bikaner to Jaisalmer at about 325 km. It's a road trip, not a resort holiday, but it also means you watch the state change around you instead of flying between disconnected cities.

Day by Day
Arrive in Delhi
However you arrive, this day is for settling in before the real driving starts.
Delhi
A guided day in Delhi with Jama Masjid and India Gate, then the sound and light show at the Red Fort in the evening. It's a good primer on Mughal and colonial history before Rajasthan begins.
Delhi to Mandawa
The first driving day. Mandawa is a small town known for its painted havelis, with colourful murals on the walls of the old merchant houses.
Mandawa to Bikaner
On to Bikaner, where Junagarh Fort is the main stop.
Bikaner to Jaisalmer
The longest transfer the itinerary lists, and the stretch where the landscape turns properly to desert.
Jaisalmer
A guided tour of Jaisalmer Fort, one of the living forts in the world, which means people still live inside it. Later in the day, a camel ride at the Sam Sand Dunes.
Jaisalmer to Jodhpur
A travel day to Jodhpur, the blue city. The itinerary treats it as a transfer rather than a sightseeing stop, so if Mehrangarh Fort is on your list, ask for an extra night here.
Jodhpur to Udaipur
The Ranakpur Jain Temple is the halt on the way, an important architectural and spiritual landmark, before you continue to Udaipur.
Udaipur
City Palace and Saheliyon-ki-Bari are the two stops. Udaipur is built around its lakes, and it's a good day to slow down.
Udaipur to Pushkar
Pushkar is quieter and more spiritual than anywhere else on the route. The itinerary includes darshan at the Jagat Pita Shri Brahma Temple.
Pushkar to Jaipur
On to Jaipur, the Pink City, with its bazaars and palaces.
Jaipur
Amber Fort, with an elephant ride up as part of the itinerary, then time to explore the city at your own pace.
Jaipur to Agra
The last long drive of the trip. Agra tonight, the Taj Mahal tomorrow morning.
Agra to Delhi, departure
A morning visit to the Taj Mahal, worth the early alarm for the softer light and thinner crowds. Then the drive back to Delhi, and that's the trip.
When to Go
October to March
Daytime temperatures are manageable for sightseeing, and the desert stops at Bikaner and Jaisalmer are comfortable. Winter mornings and nights can be cold in the west, so pack a jacket.
April to June
It gets very hot across the route, the desert stretches especially. If that's your only window, ask about adjusting the plan.
Why Go by Private Cab
Two weeks and nine cities is a lot of ground, and having your own car changes the experience. You're not working around a bus schedule or a group. If a fort visit runs long, or you want to stop somewhere that isn't on the list, that's fine.
Raahi Cabz provides outstation taxi services with professional drivers and well-maintained vehicles, on routes from Delhi, Chandigarh and Jaipur to Rajasthan and other destinations across North India.
